Jean Patou

Jean Patou (1887-1936) founded his couture house in 1919. His creations were influenced by sportswear (he dressed Suzanne Lenglen besides) and by a taste for lightness displayed in his sober lines, light colors and geometric patterns. He worked in close collaboration with the fabric editor Bianchini-Férier. At the death of Jean Patou, his brother-in-law Raymond Barbas took over the management of the house and among the successive stylists of the house were Rosine Delamarre (from 1942 to 1949), Marc Bohan assisted by Gérard Pipart (from 1955 to 1957) , Karl Lagerfeld (1958 to 1963).
